PRINCE2® Foundation with Practitioner

Summary

This course is the OGC/APMG accredited PRINCE2 course with both Foundation and Practitioner exams. The Foundation exam evaluates delegates' knowledge of the concepts, terms and theoretical aspects of PRINCE2. The Practitioner exam evaluates delegates' knowledge of the application of PRINCE2. The course is packed full of real world examples and sample exercises, to both prepare for the exam and apply the method in the workplace.

Format

This course is delivered in a 5-day trainer led format, it includes two workbooks that can be used to undertake preparatory self study.

Topics covered

The topics covered in this course are:

• Introduction to project management and PRINCE2
• Principles, themes and processes
• Business Case - What is a business case, development path, contents
• Organisation - Roles, each role in turn.
• Quality - Key terms, quality planning, control and assurance
• Plans - Planning procedure, plan types: exception, project and stage
• Risk - Risk management policy, risk management procedure
• Change - Configuration management & issue and change control procedure
• Progress - Tolerances, lessons, raising exceptions
• Foundation exam review
• Processes and the application of the themes - Starting up a Project, Directing a Project, Initiating a Project, Controlling a Stage, Managing Product Delivery, Managing a Stage Boundary, Closing a Project
• Foundation exam - 60 minutes, 75 multi choice questions, 35 marks to pass, closed book (no reference material allowed).
• Case study analysis - Two case studies supplied by the examination board will be used to demonstrate the application of PRINCE2
• Practitioner exam review
• Practitioner exam - 2½ hours, 9 questions, 108 marks, 59 to pass, open book, PRINCE2 manual allowed to be referenced.

• Sponsors, who need to know what a project manager should be doing
• Project managers, who would be expected to continue to Practitioner
• Project support staff, co-ordinators and officers

Pre requisites - To sit the Practitioner exam delegates must have passed the Foundation exam. There are no pre requisites to sit the Foundation exam.
