ITIL® Intermediate Lifecycle Certificates
The ITIL® V3 Intermediate Lifecycle stream consists of 5 individual certifications or modules, each based on one of the ITIL® Service Lifecycle phases, built around the guidance within each of the OGC core ITIL® titles:
* Service Operation, and
* Continual Service Improvement
Each module of the Lifecycle series covers an introduction to the Service Lifecycle, the principles, processes, functions and activities within that stage of the ITIL® Service Management Lifecycle, along with technology and implementation considerations.
The Lifecycle modules expose individuals to essential aspects of Management, Marketing, Operations, and Organization Management useful to appreciate the concerns of their business counterparts within a Service Management context.
Target Group for the ITIL® Intermediate Lifecycle Modules
Individuals who:
- have, or are seeking a management or team leader role that requires a broader focus on the management of ITIL® practice areas and their interaction across the Service Lifecycle
- work across teams or manage multiple capability areas,
- are looking to achieve a superior knowledge of all ITIL® Best Practice areas through ITIL® V3 Expert Level certification, for which these modules and their accompanying credits are required
- are simply seeking a better grasp of the business fundamentals that drive the need for IT services
Pre-requisite Entry Criteria
Candidates must hold the ITIL® Foundation Certificate or V2-V3 Bridge equivalentThe following are also strongly recommended criteria, but not mandatory:
- Students should have exposure to basic concepts and 2 years IT and related experience
- Students should complete at least 21 hours of personal study, using the syllabus and relevant ITIL® guides, prior to undertaking the course*
Format of the ITIL® Lifecycle Intermediate Exams
The ITIL® Intermediate examinations test candidates in their ability to understand, apply and analyse the relevant ITIL® practices covered within each module.
Each of the 8 questions is supported by a detailed scenario, which describes a specific Service Management or business related situation or problem. Candidates select the most accurate response from the four presented, that best solves the problem posed.
- The optimum response to the question is awarded top marks (5)
- The partially correct options will receive fewer marks (3 or 1)
- The incorrect or distracter option, which contains little or no accurate detail to solve the problem, will receive no marks (0)
The pass mark for this examination is 70% (28/40) and the exam duration is 90 minutes.
